Free FrontPage Templates - How
To Avoid Mistakes When
Building A Website

Free Frontpage templates can save you a lot of time and effort when you want to create a whole new look and feel for your website. However, a lot of folks make mistakes in the process of using a web template and end up with something that looks drastically different to what they originally had in mind.

Here are some guidelines to help you avoid those design mistakes.

The first obvious mistake you should be aware of is using very popular free Frontpage templates. Obviously, if every Tom, Dick and Sally uses the same template, your website will not appear unique at all and your credibility as a website designer will be shattered.

Okay, so not quite that bad then... :)

Why? Well, you can always change your template anytime you want, and while you're in the 'learning phase' any sort of experimental website design is a GOOD thing. (After all, you're still learning the ropes, right?)

Of course the whole point of using the free Frontpage templates (or any sort of website templates) is to save time, effort and frustration.

So, what you really want to do is just make minor changes... Change stuff such as titles and content and you're done. What you don't want to do is customize the template beyond recognition.

Sure, this will give you your unique one-of-a-kind website, but you're defying the very purpose of using a web template... saving time and effort.

On the other hand, if a Frontpage template is suitable but some changes must be made to suit your site's theme, then obviously you'll want to make the necessary changes needed.

The key is to just make only the necessary changes and try not to redesign the whole template! (Although I know how tempting this can be!)

At the end of the day, just remember to focus on the BIG picture. What's the big picture you ask? Well, you want to get a website up quickly, and without too many challenges, right? So, sometimes it does pay to choose templates because they serve your purpose, rather than just because they look great!
